World Building - Week 5 - 6

I've been so MIA. Work was horrendous this past week. Also, I've been attending Art Conventions all throughout November. I got to meet and greet a lot of GREAT artist throughout November. I'll do a post on the Conventions I've been to soon.

Here is what I've been building lately. In week 5, we focused on vehicles and in week 6 is about bringing everything we've covered and bringing it all in one piece. Here are some sketches on my ideas. So far, its been a great ride.

This is kind of a long post (bear with me) but I hope you can get the scope of what I'm working on.

Week 5

Here are my posts for week 5 vehicles.

Week 6
Here are some sketches for week 6.
I'm not proud of any of them. =(

Week 3

I'm also backed up with my flora and fauna pieces. Its not really done but here is what I got. My issue with these concepts are that they aren't really authentic enough for my liking. It'd take me weeks to do more studies on creatures and plants that I think would fit best for this world that I have in mind.

Bonus post (I wanted to share)

Yesterday, while I was trying to make concepts for my week 6 assignment, I got too caught up with artists block so I took a step back and did some speed paintings on possible "landmarks". I recorded the process.

World-Building - week 4 - Costumes/Population

Here is week 4 of World Building. Still a work in progress  but I learned a lot doing it. I learned that it takes me FOREVER to come up with a concept. I want to get faster.

Here is the High Priestest. She is one of a group of people of people who is an evolved human. She wears this suit for sacred reasons.

Here is my concept of the soldier.

This is one of the civilians. She is a hunter that lives in the forest.

I don't know where I was going with this one. I was trying to do another hunter but yea. I dont know. I decided to put it up still because you can still see the concept.

World-Building - week 3 - Flora and Fauna sketches

Hi everyone. Here are my sketches with the Flora and Fauna assignment. I started with Monkeys and Birds (I don't know why). I was thinking about focusing in the forest area of my map. Its a start. These aren't accurate animals. I was trying to play around with something familiar and slightly different.

I've been sketching in my sketchbook. I took the time to collage then together. This was fun.

World-Building - Week 2

Hi everyone. Ok so here is week 2 of my world building seminar with Sean Murray. We had to look at our maps from week 1 and put focus on an area by pretending we are visiting. I made many sketches before I reached the final. You can see them below the final image. Anyhow keep drawing. Bless.

So in my world, there are sources of high potent energy on certain locations of Atlantis. To the people of Nuearth, its a mystery of how these energy sources function, however they use this energy as their main resource of function.  Here is one of the locations located on the northern part of Atlantis. For now, I named it The Northern Temple:

Here are some more sketches before reaching the final

World-Building - Week 1

Hello all. Welcome to week 1 of "World-Building with Sean A. Murray".  This is Nuearth. I've never really made a map before. For my world-building seminar, we had to make a map of our world that we would want to build. Here's how it went.

I got inspired by "Gordon-Michael Scallion's Future Map of the World".  He prophesied that in our distant future, the world will go through major changes. Some of those changes include the rise of lands such as Atlantis. So I said, why not start there.

As you can see in my map, everything is based on Sacred Geometry.  The green dots are locations where major energy sources are.  They're strategically placed based on the "Tree of life" geometry. The details of the story keep changing in my head but I guess the gist of it is there.

World Building with Sean Andrew Murray

I took up an online seminar with illustrator and concept artist, Sean AndrewMurray. He's the creator of "The World of Gateway", a kick-starter book that he's been illustrating.  I'm pretty excited about this class because I know I'm gonna learn lots about constructing an imaginary world from the ground up. Here are some of his works from his new book coming soon.

Todays quick sketch: Joker and Batman

I wanted to experiment drawing shadows and light. So I tried to do some quick indication drawings of just light and shadow. I do these things primarily to have my paintings/drawings to read at all stages of its process.

Todays Sketch: "Re-building"

In todays sketch, I took on a broken Mech. The battle was tough, but I think I did okay.

Creature sketch

Hey folks, sorry for the lack of updates. I tried to experiment with some sort of creature design. I'm learning a lot by experimenting different approaches to art.

Some more environment drawings.

I'm doing these drawings mostly to exercise my conceptual development. Lately, there has been a lot of experimentation as to what works for me. I find that doing drawings, rather than painting, I'm much more stronger in coming up with ideas while I'm creating. Doing what works for you is very key when conceptualizing ideas in your art.

Todays sketch "Guan"

I usually don't know what I'm going to draw until like 10-15 mins into the drawing. Thats what happened to this character. Ten minutes into the drawing, it ended up being General Guan. Sketches like these (although sometimes takes long) really help me to get warmed up for the day's assignment. I usually start off the sketch, then leave it unfinished after a half hour. I then finish the drawing at the end of the day after I finish my days work. More to come.

Deadpool Sketch

I didn't know what to draw today. I randomly picked out a character from the internet and Deadpool came up. So I said, Why Not?!

Ipad Drawings on "Sketchclub" app

I've been preparing for my next class coming up on the 22nd. In the mean time, I wanted to really focus on drawing on my iPad. For these drawings, I'm using "Sketchclub" I love the brushes and some of the features it had on it.
